Simple and Elegant Champagne Doughnuts

Delicious, easy, simple and elegant champagne doughnuts! Perfect for every celebration from birthdays to bridal showers and Mother’s Day! With champagne baked into the doughnuts and also poured into the glaze, this special treat is perfect for every bubbly lover!

We are huge fans of champagne in this house, and firm believers in popping bubbly for any occasion! But I especially love opening a bottle when we have something fun to celebrate with friends and family. When I was creating these simple and elegant champagne doughnuts, I was imagining enjoying them with my closest girlfriends, or with my mom for Mother’s Day! (With all the Covid-19 craziness that’s unlikely, but I do plan to drop some off on her front step!)

While I wanted these doughnuts to be delicious and special, it was also important for them to be easy and quick enough to whip up on a moment’s notice. Because you need to spend your time celebrating! So with one bowl, 15 minutes of hands-on time and no frying, I’d say we nailed it right? Because from prep to clean-up, it doesn’t get much easier than this!

These simple and elegant champagne doughnuts are so good. They’re perfect moist and buttery, with crisp champagne flavor. And don’t even get me started on the champagne glaze, it is knock-your-socks off good! My husband actually took a spoon to it, and he’s not usually a fan of sweets haha!

Quick notes on Champagne Doughnuts Ingredients:

  • You do not need to use a super fancy champagne for this. There are plenty of delicious $10-$15 options out there! Just pick a champagne that you’ll enjoy drinking, especially since there will be leftovers to enjoy!
  • Use quality dairy products! Your baked good is going to taste a hundred times better when you use delicious ingredients, especially dairy. In our house we proudly buy Organic Valley dairy products. They taste delicious on their own, and also make such a difference when I’m baking. This recipe calls for Organic Valley Salted Butter, and Organic Valley eggs. Trust me, and give it a go!

Description

Easy, simple and elegant Champagne Doughnuts. A perfect for every celebration from birthdays to Mother’s Day!

Ingredients

Scale

Champagne Doughnuts:

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

3/4 teaspoon salt

2 Organic Valley eggs

1/2 cup Organic Valley Salted Butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup champagne (room temperature)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze:

1/4 cup champagne

2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, and grease two doughnut pans. Set aside.

Melt the butter in a large microwave safe mixing bowl, and allow to cool slightly. Add the champagne, eggs, sugar and vanilla to the melted butter. Whisk to combine. Add the salt and baking powder and give a quick stir, and then add flour. Stir with a spatula until no flour streaks show in the batter.

Transfer the batter to a large gallon-size ziplock bag, and cut a small hole in the corner. Pipe the batter into each well of the greased doughnut pan, filling to about 1/4 inch from the top of the mold. Bake 14-16 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs. Allow to cool in the pans for 5 minutes, and then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. In the meantime, prepare the glaze.

For the glaze: Combine the champagne, powdered sugar and salt in a shallow bowl, whisking to combine. Generously dip each cooled doughnut into the glaze, and then return to the cooling rack for the glaze to set.

Notes

Use your favorite champagne! I opted for Gruet’s Brut champagne.

I just made these and they were absolutely delicious and beautiful! The instructions were easy to follow it didn’t take long to make. I used prosecco instead of champagne and dipped the cooled donuts in the gaze twice to get a nice solid coating. I will definitely make them again!
